Not one scholarship — the route most Egyptians actually use for a U.S. PhD. The academic DEPARTMENT pays your tuition, a living stipend and health insurance through a research or teaching assistantship. Sourced examples: Cornell 2026-27 pays $36,684 (9-month) or $48,912 (12-month) plus full tuition and health insurance; MIT base doctoral rates are $51,226 (RA) and $52,429 (TA). There is NO separate scholarship application — admission to the PhD programme IS the funding decision, and each department sets its own deadline. It is real work: expect 15-20 hours a week of teaching or research duties. Master's students are usually NOT funded this way. Budget for GRE/TOEFL, application fees, transcript translation and your flight before any stipend arrives.
