What China really costs

Tuition: No national figure — each university sets tuition per cycle. Working range for self-funded students: RMB 14,000–40,000/year for bachelor’s (typically 20,000–30,000); English-taught master’s usually RMB 30,000+. A CSC (Chinese Government) scholarship waives tuition entirely. Always check the university’s own fee page.

Proof of funds: No fixed amount — the Chinese embassy’s X1 checklist has NO proof-of-funds item at all: passport, form, photo, Admission Notice and the JW201/JW202 form. Financial vetting happens at university admission, not at the visa window.

Student visa: Embassy fee for Egyptians: EGP 400 single-entry (reduced rate officially extended to 31 Dec 2026), plus the CVASC visa-center service fee on top — the center’s 2026 notice puts it near EGP 1,900, so budget ≈ EGP 2,300 total and confirm at the center. After arrival: residence permit at the PSB within 30 days, RMB 400–800.
