Studying in Germany — what to expect

Rigorous and independent: professors hand you the map, not the hand-holding. You manage your own study plan, exams decide everything, and the technical universities keep close ties to companies you’ll actually work for.

Germans open up slowly and mean what they say — directness is honesty, not coldness. Once a friendship forms, it is solid for life, and punctuality is a love language.

Students talk about the semester ticket that moves you across the region, affordable life outside Munich, and the Studentenwerk safety net. Many graduates simply stay — the job market wants them.
